Recommended Resources: Newsletters, Podcasts, X Accounts, and Books
Years spent finding the best content creators, all in one post
Hi everyone! I’ve curated a list of my favorite resources. These include newsletters/Substacks, podcasts, X accounts, and books that have shaped my thinking. Note: These are personal picks—always do your own due diligence.
Newsletters / Substacks
[Macro and Investing] Lyn Alden: Big-picture macro analysis, flexible in her approach, and easy to read. I highly recommend subscribing to her newsletter at lynalden.com.
[Macro and Investing] Yardeni: Subscribe to their QuickTakes newsletter at yardeni.com/quicktakes. Very data-driven and down-to-earth analysis. Ed Yardeni is an experienced veteran who’s great at debunking investment myths and fading risk-off moves in the market. Yardeni can be seen as a permabull on US equities, but give him credit—he’s been on the right side of the trade for a long time.
[Macro and Trading] The MacroTourist: Written by Kevin Muir, a former sell-side trader. He offers interesting takes on macro topics and is a sharp thinker. That said, he’s been overly bearish this year, though not a full permabear.
[Tactical Trading] AM|FX by Brent Donnelly: I don’t subscribe anymore because it doesn’t fit my style, but Brent is a great guy and former FX sell-side trader. Lots of valuable lessons here. (You’ll see one of his books in my recommendations below.) Find it here.
[Macro and Trading] PauloMacro’s Substack: aka Cloudbear, you are warned, a lot of bearishness :) However, it’s a great read, especially if you’re into commodities for solid insights.
[Macro & Trading] Reminiscences of a Shrub Operator: One of my absolute favorite Substacks, fun, insightful, and written by a super-smart trader with zero bias who trades anything that can make money. Best memes in the business.
[Macro and Stock Picking] YWR: Excellent stock picks from a London-based hedge fund manager who’s incredibly sharp. He uses factor screening for selection, great value and very affordable.
[Macro and Investing] Campbell Ramble: Free and packed with awesome content. The author is far to the right on the IQ bell curve.
[Technical Monetary Plumbing] Conks: If you’re into monetary plumbing, this is your go-to. Not the most fun read, it’s advanced stuff.
[Geopolitics and Special Situations] Michael Kao’s Substack (Kaoboy Musings): Excellent on geopolitics, oil markets, and fixed income.
[Earnings Insights] The Transcript’s Substack: A collection of earnings transcripts and management quotes. Great for gauging macro trends through company leaders’ words, I pair this with traditional macro indicators.
Podcasts
A quick warning: Most podcasts are negative alpha and a huge time sink, don’t fall into the black hole! Stick to quality ones like these:
Macro Voices: Great for the long-term big picture, but not ideal for timing trades. For example, the recent episode with Luke Gromen was excellent but top-ticked gold and the debasement trade.
Market Huddle: Focuses on macro and trading; co-created by Kevin Muir from The MacroTourist.
Forward Guidance: I love their weekly roundup, I watch it every weekend for timely insights.
Aswath Damodaran’s YouTube Channel: The absolute best for company fundamental analysis.
Hidden Forces: Covers geopolitics, macro, and societal issues.
Masters in Business: Features some fantastic interviews.
Plain English with Derek Thompson: Straightforward and insightful.
The Macro Trading Floor: Weekly macro roundup with Brent Donnelly and Macro Alf.
X Accounts
I follow too many accounts on X—DM me if you want details on a specific one not in this list, I probably have an opinion already.
These are my favorites (I have notifications turned on for them):
WarrenPies: My favorite macro analyst.
abcampbell: Campbell Ramble’s X account.
BenKizemchuk: Good macro generalist.
LynAldenContact: Lyn Alden, no need for introduction anymore.
fejau_inc: Love this guy—he hosts Forward Guidance. Very pro-crypto, so keep that in mind.
wabuffo: Solid macro analyst; I follow mainly for DTS updates.
agnostoxxx: The Reminiscences of a Shrub Operator author.
FedGuy12: Joseph Wang, great for Fed analysis. (Note: I believe this is the correct handle; confirm if needed.)
NickTimiraos: The Fed whisperer.
Wasteland Capital: for stock picking
Books to Read
I’ve grouped these by category for easier navigation. These are timeless reads that have influenced me greatly:

Investing: The Little Book of Valuation by Aswath Damodaran, Capital Returns by Edward Chancellor, One Up on Wall Street by Peter Lynch, A Random Walk Down Wall Street by Burton Malkiel.
Accounting 101: How Finance Works by Mihir Desai.

Systematic Trading and Risk Management: Smart Portfolios, and Systematic Trading, both by Robert Carver.
That’s my list! If you have questions or want more details, drop a comment.
